Webinar on the Ombudsman Function
How does an ombudsman office compare with other functions that help an organization to be true to its values and ethics? Our webinar will be led by two EPAC members of great distinction.
Gregory J. Levine, Ph.D. (cultural geography from Queen’s University) and LL.B. (member of the Law Societies of British Columbia and Upper Canada) will lead off. He has been a barrister and solicitor, legal researcher and professor. He has taught courses in governmental ethics law, geographical perspectives in law and society, and equity and ethics at numerous universities. Two of his publications are books on the legal foundations of government ethics and on ombudsman legislation in Canada. Formerly he served as General Counsel in the Office of the Ombudsman of British Columbia.
Louis Haeck will add his perspectives. He has degrees in law and theology and an MBA. His 32 years in the Canadian Forces included teaching at Royal Military College. Formerly the ombudsman for Katimavik, he now serves as Ombudsman, Compliance Officer and senior ethics advisor for VIA Rail.
